Oneduo Releases New Track Entitled “Cross My Heart”

ONEDUO is an electronic music group formed in 2012 by Michael Scimeca and Stephen Georgilis, two New York natives. Mike and Stephen joined together with a common dream of impacting the world with their music.  We got a chance to do an exclusive interview with them about their new track entitled “Cross My Heart”.

Q: Can you please tell our readers your real names? What is the meaning behind your stage name ONEDUO?
A: Mike Scimeca & Steve Georgilis! ONEDUO is a representation of two individuals coming together as a duo uniting people together as one through music. We feel that music is a gateway to so many incredible feelings in addition to the many personal relationships that are built and strengthened through it. That’s what we strive to achieve with our music 

Q: Where are you from and Where were you based? 
A: We are from New York & both still live here! New York Souls.

Q: At What age did you start making music?
A: Mike: I started at a young age, I got my first guitar when I was 5 and have been obsessed ever since.
Steve: I grew up playing the cello until I was 17, but I actually started music production when we started ONEDUO a little over six years ago.

Q: What genre of music do you love? and what genre would you consider yourself?
A: Mike: I have a love for almost every genre, it really depends on my mood! I think I’d consider us Dance pop/ Future Bass! – But also, I don’t like to identify with any genre because then you’re sort of stuck in a box, I like to freely create and just see what comes out of it.
Steve: I’m always listening to different genres of music to take particular elements into our own music, but of course dance music is my passion! Like Mike said before, it’s hard to narrow your music down to a specific genre but if I had to pinpoint one I’d say for sure Dance pop/ Future Bass!

Q: Tell us about your latest track “Cross My Heart” (what is it all about)—-Please explain the concept or message behind it:
A: This record means so much to us. It’s about falling in love and not knowing how to act, ruining something before it even had the chance to flourish because you’re not wise enough to understand what you have. But also understanding the fact that even though you may still think of that person and always have love for them, it’s not where either of you belong. At least in this life time..



Q: Who wrote it? Do you guys write and produce your own music?
A: We wrote it along with Ria Lucia! – We write and produce all of our stuff ourselves, as we feel it has more of a meaning when it’s coming from us. We’re able to get more attached on a mental and emotional level.

Q: Whats next for ONEDUO?
A: So much stuff coming. We just released our new symbol on Jan. 1st, going to be releasing some new merch with it! Along with a LOT of new music, and a lot of new tunes with Mike’s vocal on it!

Q: We love your Chainsmokers remix, do you guys plan on doing more remixes in 2019?
A: Thank you, and yes! We love doing remixes. It’s always fun to put your own twist on records that you can identify with! A lot of new remixes coming for 2019!

Q: If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to work with?
A: Mike: Avril Lavigne! Shes always my go to answer for this question, she was my childhood crush haha and I’ve always loved her music!
Steve: Honestly I’d love to work with Ariana Grande, I think she’s such a beautiful soul and she’s super talented!
